This isn't a game that can be "finished", but I played it for several dozen thousand hours as a kid, so it deserves a spot here. Even at the highest speed, you have enough slop time after a piece falls to reposition it, such that with enough practice you can keep a game going indefinitely. The track "Clotho" is permanently burned into my brain the way kids whose parents bought batteries for their gameboy think of "Korobeiniki". Now that I'm an adult who can buy my own batteries, I'd rather play Tetris or Panel de Pon or Puzzle Fighter or just about any other falling block puzzle game, but there's something about the look and sound of Columns, the trance-like-state I enter when I get in the zone, that makes me feel like I really have been transported back to ancient Rome to consult with the gods. I don't know what that means.
