This is a pretty nice run-and-gun game. It was originally conceived as merely a series of boss fights, and you can tell when you play: the bosses are huge, unbelievably well-animated sprites that seem directly ripped from a 1940s American cartoon. They're also a lot of fun, with multiple stages and interesting patterns to learn. The "level" stages (which IIRC were added after backlash from prospective players, which really sucks!) play like the afterthought they sort of are. The game plays fine and the bosses are amazing to look at, but it still feels a little incomplete somehow. I still had a good time.
