Most Gauntlet games are a scam. The original arcade game wasn't designed to be fun, it was designed to separate children from their quarters as efficiently as possible, and most home versions of the game struggle to find an identity that isn't weighed down by this legacy. That said, the quest mode of Gauntlet 4 can be pretty fun if you play with friends. In some ways, it was Diablo before Diablo was Diablo. Dive into the 50-floor dungeon, get loot, try to survive, return to town, buy character upgrades and repeat. It's a similar loop to Dungeon Explorer but tighter and more manageable, in my opinion. Good couch co-op game.
