This game has problems, but I still kinda like it. Fundamentally, it's not that different from an early-middle era Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy—in fact, a lot of comparisons could be drawn between this game's writing and Final Fantasy 4—but it's just missing something, that spark of life that gives a simple RPG a personality. PS3 is exactly the sum of its parts, but there are bits and pieces that hint at a grander design. There's something here; maybe too much was just lost in translation with this one. They only had two lines of text per dialog box compared to FF4's four, and maybe that makes all the difference.
