This game kinda stinks, but that's just because it's a gameboy game. They probably made the best Super Mario game they could at the time with the hardware they had to work with. It's extremely short and easy, but that's not always a bad thing. A perfectly cromulent little game you can bring in your pocket, if you have extremely big pockets or one of the later-model gameboys. You could do a lot worse.
