Review

It's easy to see why this was so successful: in many ways it was the first great single-player video game. This is a game that could theoretically keep you occupied for hours without needing someone else willing to control paddle #2 or tank #2 for that amount of time. You're only able to have a single shot on screen at a time, so getting into a good rhythm is key, and it feels pretty good when you do. You can't just shoot willy-nilly, you actually have to employ some strategy, especially when the aliens start very close to the bottom of the screen. These days, the novelty wears off after about 20 minutes, but I still respect this game.
