Review

I'm real conflicted about this one. The writing, characters, world-building, art, and music are all top-tier; however, the central game mechanic, the thing you spend most of your time doing, is a "bullet hell" dodging minigame that I don't enjoy at all. I'm not opposed to an RPG subverting expectations and having you do something else instead of killing monsters and leveling up, I just wish the "something else" in this case was something I liked doing even a little bit.

I like that it's a short game with multiple possible play styles, but it makes clear that there's one "right" way to play to the point of explicitly discouraging completionism. So, I've only played this game once. It's a bold artistic choice, but it feels a bit sad having so little time to spend in this wonderful world.
