Review

This is one of the better Final Fantasy games. In the plus column, the battle and character development systems are my favorite in the series. I love the fully turn-based tactical battles, and the sphere grid is a brilliant twist on the typical experience point leveling system. In the minus column, this game features extensive voice acting, the world isn't as open and it's more linear than the typical JRPG, and it has some of the worst forced mini-game sequences in the series to date. Overall I like playing it, I like the story, and it looks and sounds great. The modern PC port at least makes it possible to switch the VO to Japanese, so that brings it up to the level of a FF4 or FF7 to me.
