Review

Galaga is a great classic arcade game. It takes the simple single-screen shooting action of Space Invaders and levels it up with interesting enemy movement patterns, fun bonus levels, and lovely colors and sounds. If you've only played the various console ports, I highly recommend firing up MAME and playing the original arcade version, it looks and sounds terrific. The optional strategy of allowing your ship to be captured and freeing it to give you a double-ship is an impressive amount of depth for a game of this vintage. Great game for getting into a flow state and chasing high scores.
